Notable Photographers

Ansel Easton Adams



Ansel Easton Adams was an environmental activist, and a famous photographer. He was born in San Francisco, California on February 20, 1902. He took pictures of nature, specifically Yosemite National Park, to influence people to conserve wilderness areas. He is famous for his black-and-white nature pictures. 

When he was little, an earthquake caused him to crash into a wall breaking his nose. It healed but it couldn't be set back in place making it crooked for the rest of his life. He only reached an 8th grade education, and afterwards just learned about things that interested him. His first passion was playing the piano, and music was his career path for a while. He became interested in photography after going to Yosemite National Park on a family trip. He got a job as a photo technician, and joined clubs that had to do with photography to learn more.
